A distinct Palestinian national identity has existed since the mid 1870s and the existence of a Palestinian people has been documented in recorded history thousands of years prior. I think what this dude means is that the modern-day socialist/pan-Arab nationalist influenced struggles/resistance (both peaceful and violent) in Israel/Palestine in support of the preservation of the Palestinian people and heritage from nearly all ends of the spectrum of pro-Palestine/anti-Israeli activists come from the ideas of anti-imperialism/anti-authority/so-called “freedom”/socialism espoused during the 70s…

This is why the Muslim Brotherhood/Hamas are disliked by staunchly orthodox Muslims, as they attempt to implement liberalism and populism into their struggle instead of adhering to Islamic teaching.
